April 2022 – The Idea
Totes Luxe UK wasn’t built from a business plan.
It began with small frustrations — another strap wearing thin, a favourite shape collapsing after only a few wears, another piece that didn’t live up to its promise.
I looked at what I owned and realised: I had plenty of bags, but not one that truly worked. Not one that felt considered.
I wanted something else. A piece with presence, but not noise. Understated, yet strong. Made for real life — not just for the season.
A bag designed with purpose. Crafted to last. Quietly beautiful, endlessly useful.
July 2022 – The Samples
We thought the first samples would be close. They weren’t. One was too rigid. Another lost its shape. One had beautiful handles, but the wrong lining.
What photographed well didn’t feel right in hand.
We tested more than fifteen combinations of leather. Adjusted every proportion. Debated every detail — from the weight of the hardware to the exact depth of each pocket.
We learned quickly: craftsmanship can’t be rushed. And it shouldn’t be compromised.
It took eight months to get it right. But the result spoke for itself.
September 2022 – The Factory
After a long search, we partnered with a small, family-run workshop — a team of skilled artisans who take craftsmanship, and detail, personally.
They didn’t simply follow a specification. They asked questions. Suggested better. Refined what we had missed.
Their work is never rushed — they are paid for their time, not by the piece. Because true precision requires care.
February 2023 – The Launch
We launched quietly. No campaigns. No influencers. Just a few photographs, and a site we built ourselves.
And still — they sold.
Not through hype, but because women were looking for something different.
A bag that didn’t need to shout. One that spoke for itself. Every order mattered. Every message — “I’ve finally found the one” — reminded us why we began.
